We planned to have a fun day with over 40 Bokamoso kids from Princess Informal Settlement, as many of them required food and extra love and attention. As we always like to do a time of sharing God’s love and a short message, I was trying to figure out what to share with that particular group. The Holy Spirit reminded me that Ryan Jr. (age 10) had previously prepared a fantastic teaching all of his own accord… it was perfect.
The message was simple but meaningful, coming from one child straight to other children. Ryan spoke about how we are like balloons…we are flat balloons when we hold a negative attitude about ourselves and do not see ourselves and our abilities as God does. We are like giant, ready-to-explode balloons when we are too prideful and puffed up in our own accomplishments. Therefore, we need to be like a “in the middle” balloon, the perfect size for fun and joy – accepting that we are loved and created for extraordinary things. He ended by saying that every breath that goes into blowing up the balloon is us speaking life and God’s love and promises over our lives, and the final knot is us acknowledging that God is the one that holds our lives together.
His message was a perfect reminder that there is no junior Holy Spirit, only one God who can use anyone willing, no matter their age or experience, to share His message of love to those He loves!
