“For as he thinks in his heart so is he…” (Prov.23:7)
It is always awesome to hang out with the Hlanganani kiddos…during one of our monthly mentoring groups, we played a silly but fun chocolate “ice-breaker” game, which the kids loved. They were so thoughtful to take only one piece of chocolate and leave some for their peers.
We learned about how our thoughts control our hearts and lives and the importance of keeping our eyes on Jesus. We spoke about how our minds are like a battlefield and the importance of getting our unkind thoughts under control through God’s assistance; as only He can help us replace them with the right thoughts. Thoughts that are honorable, kind, pure and worthy of praise.
We discussed choosing our thoughts carefully as they minister life or death…including ones we think about ourselves not only those we think about others around us. “For to be carnally minded is death but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” (Romans 8:6)
The kids were in fits of laughter as we recounted stories from our own lives regarding how we at times struggle with this and how we too need God’s help!
“And be renewed in the spirit of your mind…” (Ephesians 4:23)
A right attitude of mercy and kindness = begins with right thinking!
