“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas; Soon the bells will start, And the thing that will make them ring, Is the carol that you sing, Right within your heart.” ~ Meredith Willson
As the classic Christmas song goes, it indeed is beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and our hearts are singing many carols of thankfulness and gratitude for all the fantastic ways in which God has provided vital Christmas boxes for all of the vulnerable and orphaned children we help.
Gifts were bought, sorted out, checked and re-checked, and all wrapped up! Whew! With 210 Bokamoso children needing the essential items in the Christmas boxes, we weren’t sure how everyone would get a gift…but God did! He even used a chance meeting at the airport in which a perfect stranger donated enough funds to cover over 40 boxes and party supplies! He is undoubtedly the God of the extraordinary!
Boxes had basic hygiene essentials, including sanitary pads, soap, facecloths, toothbrushes, and deodorants. We also gifted the children with stationery items as schools in South Africa require children to purchase their own stationery, which many children cannot afford. Lastly, each child got a t-shirt or baseball cap and a fun game or mirror. We included a whistle for the girls to carry with them to help them raise attention for help if needed. And of course, last but not least, every box had the all-important bag of candy!
