We received a call from a lady who has taken under her wings seven families who are struggling with little hope due to lack of work, funds, and no familial support. The majority of them are orphans and single mothers who have lost their income due to Covid 19 restrictions. Others were abandoned by the children’s fathers, leaving them with no income for food. One of these families is made up of an amazing single lady named Anna. She is caring for ten young orphans in her small two-bedroom apartment as well as working full time to help support them.
We were blessed to have some funds put aside from a partner who earmarked them specifically for vulnerable and orphaned children/families in need of food! We immediately went shopping and were able to purchase food parcels for all seven families!
Although these were simple parcels of beans, mealie meal, rice, lentils, etc. our contact was amazed, stating that the families normally only received food such as this during Christmas if they were fortunate. Our prayer is they will see God’s hand upon them and find the work and income necessary to regularly purchase food parcels such as these ones for themselves all the time!
