During the month of July, we experienced a stricter lockdown as well as looting in various parts of the Gauteng; these elements contributed to making it even harder for some of the vulnerable and orphaned children and their guardians/families to have a regular income stream and food. Many families are in dire straits in these informal settlements. Although, we are advocates of the importance of “teaching one to fish”, there are times when there are no fish to be caught nor “bait” for that matter!
Therefore, we have been so blessed by the generosity and support of our partners who donated funds to purchase around 90 food parcels for the children and their guardian families this week. Each food parcel consisted of the basic food essentials: mealie meal, rice, beans, soup mix, lentils, pilchards, sugar, oil, candles, etc. The families were extremely grateful for the gift of food. We are so delighted that these families will have nice, full bellies at this time!
