Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. (Saint Francis de Sales)
When I was chatting to God about our upcoming Lyta Ekasi (Light Up Your Township) party with vulnerable and orphaned children, He was so joyful that we could love on the kids for Him. He said, “The kids are all very excited. Give them individual attention. Make them feel as special as they are! So very, incredibly loved and special to Me. I know each one by name. Help them to know My love for them by your kindness to them.”
Before this conversation, He had been talking to me for weeks about the importance of walking in peace and patience… one conversation I had with the Lord before the party was about this very topic…
The Lord said to me, “Walk in peace and patience today. Let My joy be your strength. Don’t rush. Focus on the person in front of you, giving them due attention and thus love. Walk-in kindness. Bring Me with you, I will remind you, led you, and guide you. Above all, take your time. Be in the moment.”
I find that we miss so much as we all as the Lord said to me “Rush around like chickens with our heads cut off!” When I focus on His will to – Stop. Slow down. Be present. Focus on the one in front of me. Then I walk in peace and can show His love and kindness far more effectively than when I’m there just to “put on a party”.

The precious kids LOVED the Christmas party we held on December 12th…we could not believe how well-behaved 50 children were for over 7 hours! It was incredible to sit down and chat with them, hear their hearts, joys, and some sorrows.
Watching them dance with joy, laugh, be children and have fun was amazing, knowing that many of them live in shacks, in poverty, came from abuse and neglect and don’t get much chance to be kids!
The day had been planned for weeks in advance… with it starting the day before, as Palesa, the life coach, taught the kids about sex trafficking awareness. At the ages of nine onwards, they are at high risk. She taught them how to be aware to protect and defend themselves and how to get help if needed. The kids learned fun songs to remind them to protect their bodies and stay healthy and aware!
On Saturday, an amazing party was ready for them…games, a bouncy house, a delicious lunch…one little girl said…”Wow, this is like a restaurant on TV…we are eating on real plates!” and lots of other fun activities. The kids loved the dancing, balloons, and of course, an incredibly delicious cake!
They were blessed with party packs, food parcels, and Christmas shoeboxes…which our very charismatic Santa had them all do a little dance or jig before they could receive! The kids ate it all up!
We left extremely tired but full of joy especially knowing that we had taken the opportunity to stop, slow down, and show love to each child in front of us, one precious individual at a time.
We want to also say a huge thank you to all our friends and partners, who made this day possible…it was worth it!
