Shrieks of glee echoed off the tin walls as the game of “Simon Says” was offered…”Who wants to play?”…everyone! The kids laughed as Ryan once again tried to outsmart them. Up, down and around…using his best dance moves. Watching them laugh uncontrollably was such a reminder of what many of these children need… a fun, carefree childhood.
As we gathered together with 50 Bokamoso children on a hot, end of summer day, we were able to share with them God’s love for them, His desire to see them healed both emotionally and physically as well as how special they are to Him. For many of these children, their lives are surrounded by poverty, alcoholic parents, and hardship. During this group of children ages 8-15, we learned of many who are having unprotected sex and others who are being abused. However, we know that our God is able to heal the brokenhearted and bring hope to the destitute and empower His children for a better life.
It was awesome to be able to provide food parcels to all of the children, as most of them were chosen to attend due to their need for food. We were also able to purchase little bible stories and “The Most Important Story Ever Told” booklet, which is a wonderful tool in which to share God’s love with children and adults alike.
What a privilege it is to be able to laugh with God’s little ones…“If I could relive my life, I would devote my entire ministry to reaching children for God.” (D.L. Moody)
