On December 23rd, George (Lyta Ekasi & Bokamoso Fitness Club) reached out to us to inform us that there were ten kids from a local informal settlement that would not be able to celebrate Christmas with nice food or any gifts this year. Could we do anything to help? He emphasized that for these children not be able to celebrate Christmas brought them not only sorrow but shame too. Shame in not having money to receive gifts, shame that others have decent food but they barely have enough to eat. Did we know of anyone who could help with school stationery for gifts or food…anything to make their day a brighter one?
George was determined to spend the day with these kids to bring them joy instead of his usual family Christmas gathering. Determined to take them to a park with green grass, an area without dirt, sewage, and garbage strewn all around them. A place to be kids, laugh, play soccer, and have a fun Christmas day.
As faithful as always, God came through, we were able to do some last-minute Christmas shopping and found a fantastic deal on school bags as well as other goodies for the kiddos. They ended up having a fun Christmas meal of hot dogs and cake and successfully exhausted George with many games of soccer!
If you desire to support the amazing work George does with orphaned and vulnerable children in the townships in and around Johannesburg, South Africa, please click here to make a donation, select “Project – Orphan Ministry” or let us know that it is for George…all donations go straight to the kids!
