Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
It is one thing to read this verse and acknowledge it’s important instruction on how to live life, however, it is an entirely different matter to actually live it! Gulp! After nearly three months of being on furlough in the States, working, fundraising and sorting out visas, etc. we felt the Lord leading us to return to South Africa on/by July 24, 2019. However, with not much time left to go and no funds available for airfares, we had to stand in faith that the “LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deut. 31:8).
We discovered that what is often a time that is “beyond our own understanding” becomes a time when God is able to show His hand and His faithfulness in our lives.
After some personal hard work as well as intentional fundraising for our trips expenses, we received more than enough to purchase our airfares. As we received our necessary funds, we immediately began searching for flights. It turned out that the best airfare deals fell just three days from when we were searching…. flying out on July 24th! As we trust in Him, God is truly able to make our paths straight… even to the exact date!
What is “beyond your own understanding” at the moment that you are trusting in the Lord to make your paths straight… how has He been faithful in going before you and preparing your way?
