With high percentages of AIDs per capita and soaring unemployment rates, countries within Southern Africa are battling to maintain communities and support for their citizens, much less the tens of thousands of orphaned children within their borders. Without the miraculous, we are only left with doubts as to what can be done for these precious lives that are abandoned and orphaned by the thousands each year.
“Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house”. Matthew 5:15 NIV
However, light is beginning to shine forth from those who follow Jesus all over Southern Africa, and as a family we feel called to join in the journey “to look after orphans and widows in their distress” within the nations of South Africa and Botswana. (James 1:27)
My heart’s calling is to raise up men passionate for Jesus. I have been mentoring men for the past 18 years and I now feel Jesus calling me to make disciples with men located in Johannesburg all the way into Botswana, creating discipleship groups in homes, cafes, under trees “in the highways and hedges.” (Luke 14:23).
Evidence has shown that as men are discipled through mentorship and bible study, their convictions as fathers and husbands grow. As a lack of having a father has been linked to teen pregnancy, leading to HIV/AIDS, and children left to fend for themselves, the answer must be teaching the love and light of Jesus Christ.
There is much work and prayer to be done, as we explore the desires God has placed in our hearts. To read more about our Mission, click HERE.
