I was frustrated. Everything in my left-brain dominated personality had fought against the logic of waiting. Although, we had clearly felt from the Lord to wait until God’s exact timing to purchase our airline tickets to South Africa, my “common sense and wisdom” did not appreciated the fact that we had to wait until two days before our desired departure date. Finally, feeling a peace about purchasing the tickets, we sat looking at the airfares, which had increased in price and decreased in options, over the course of two months. Frustration was increasing.
However, God is faithful. In all things big and small. I remembered to breathe and pray. My sister walked by and mentioned a site she uses for airfares. Upon investigation, the perfect flight showed up immediately. Not just any flight… one that was cheaper by hundreds of dollars each, over 12 hours shorter than the other more expensive flights (with only one brief layover), and the airline did not charge the extra $100 per bag for our luggage (as the other airlines were doing), saving us hundreds of dollars. It also allowed us a flexible return date, which was essential given our future plans. I was humbled and once again reminded that when we put our faith in the Lord, he always directs our paths.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
P.s. Our entire flight experience was amazing! Every step of the way went smoothly and we arrived with all our luggage and sanity in tact 😉 God is faithful!
